Every driver who has test driven the Lexus LFA has praised the amazing and awe-aspiring performance of the car. The LFA is an exotic two seater, front engine, rear wheel drive coupe. The major component used in the body and chassis are carbon fibre composite; that is why the car has a curb weight of only 3263 pounds. The lightweight 4.8L V10 engine has been placed as far back as possible. This compact 553hp engine generates a head spinning 9000rpm in 6/10th of a second. The accelerator is extremely sensitive and even if the driver just twitches his toes, the engine rpm climbs instantly. You must plant your left foot firmly on the floor to control the acceleration.

The LFA has an unparalleled low centre of gravity of 17 ¾”, right under the steering wheel. This makes the LFA stick to the road surface, and there is very little chance of over or under steering the car. If you happen to over steer and the rear wheels spin out, the car corrects it by itself, as if there are two assistants steering the rear wheels; and all this when your speedometer is in three digits. The ceramic brakes work extremely well, and the steering feedback is positive even though it is electric power steering.

The LFA has been designed to create maximum down force, and the Gurney flap comes into play once you cross the 50 mph marks. The six speed automatic sequential gearbox, with steering mounted paddles, is smooth and easy to operate; in fact, the gear shift is extremely fast. Take the car to 50mph, place it in sixth gear, press down on the throttle and you will cross the 100mph in the blink of an eye. That is how fast and smooth the car is.

Push the rpm to the redline limit and the console display changes colour and the car starts emitting warning beeps. The cockpit is designed to resemble that of a jet fighter and the seats are supportive and comfortable.

The LFA has been driven on race tracks and on normal roads; its drive has been excellent under all conditions. There are four driving modes for the driver to select from, which are normal, sports, automatic and wet. No one wants to potter around the town in such a lovely super car. It is a car that is meant to be driven on the German autobahns and open roads.

The sound from the triple exhaust resembles that of a formula1, which adds to the thrill of the car. Lexus engineers have been so weight conscious that even the sound system is a specially made lightweight unit.

The Lexus LFA team has done an outstanding job in designing and building the LFA. It may not be the fastest car in the market of super cars, but it is definitely one of the best built cars in this class. Every person who has reviewed and test driven the LFA has praised its bewildering performance, stability, agility and excellent build quality. It is a bad news that Lexus only plans to build 500 of these super cars.

2010 Lexus LF-A Review

By admin, November 8, 2009

It’s finally official! The Lexus LF-A has just made its world debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. The Toyota built super car will be limited to a production run of only 500 units, each priced at $375,000. The Japanese luxury automaker is already taking orders, however the first deliveries won’t be made until early 2011.

As you might already know, the LF-A is powered by a 4.8 liter V10 that delivers a maximum output of 560 HP at 9,000 RPM and a peak torque of 354 lb-ft at 6,800 RPM, with 90% of the total torque being available between the 3,700 RPM mark and the super car’s 9,000 RPM red line. As a result of such a road torque curve, the LF-A can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 3.7 seconds and won’t stop until it reaches a top speed of 202 MPH.

In order to ensure that the LF-A handles as well as it goes in a straight line, the Lexus design team incorporated lightweight materials like aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys and titanium alloys as well as some carbon fiber to ensure that the LF-A is as rigid as possible while maintaining a low curb weight. Even the new super car’s power plant is compact in size, smaller than a conventional V8, which allowed the Toyota engineers to design the LF-A with the optimal weight distribution and an exceptional power to weight ratio. Thus giving Nissan and their GT-R super car something to watch out for. via: TopSpeed

Among the many categories of Lexus, one is the Lexus RX Hybrid which has been being sold in the market since 2005. It was first premiered in 2004, and was the first luxury hybrid car in the world.

There have been two variations of Lexus RX Hybrid since its launch. The first generation model was launched for sale in the US in early 2005 and was continued till 2008. The RX 400 H was part of this series. The third generation RX 450 Hybrid was premiered in 2008 as a 2010 model, and is the newest in this series.

The RX 450 H has many features that make it stand apart out from the previous models as well as other hybrid cars. Being a hybrid, it has a dual engine system which is known as the Lexus Hybrid Drive. In this system, there is one traditional gasoline engine powered by fuel, supported by two electric engines. One electric engine is for the front wheels and the other for the rear wheels. On slow speeds, the car is able tocan run entirely in electricity, which provides fuel economy along with an environment friendly drive.

The RX 450 H has a strong engine which gives it an amazing performance on the road. It is able tocan go from zero to sixty miles an hour in just 7.2 seconds, which is highly impressive. The car has 295 horsepower and 234 of torque which make driving it an exciting experience. The 3.5 litre V6 engine runs on the Atkinson cycle for added efficiency as it uses less fuel.

The RX comes with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), which features various driving modes for different requirements. It comes with both Eco Mode and EV Mode drive options apart from the standard driving option. When the car is in EV mode, it can drive on electricity alone for a certain speed while the Eco mode maximizes fuel efficiency. It provides amazing fuel economy while driving in urban areas, and reasonable on highways where it provides around 28 miles per gallon. This is much better mileage than previous Lexus versions.

The interior of RX 450 H is equally impressive. The padded seats are very comfortable and heated, and the interior features, such as the navigation system and Bluetooth, are very user -friendly. The car has an exhaust-heat recovery system to reduce engine warm-up period, as well as a cooled exhaust gas-recirculation system to give fuel economy. The car also has state-of-the-art safety systems such as the Pre-collision system, anti- lock brakes and visibility enhancing devices, which make its a safe ride even safer.

Apart from being eco- friendly, the RX 450 Hybrid gives great value for money which makes it a very good purchasing option. Via:http://www.lexus.co.uk.

Frankfurt Show 2009: Lexus LF-Ch Concept

By admin, September 19, 2009

After an undeniably larger hyping (through a series of both official and unofficial releases of photos and information) than Toyota or Lexus models usually experience prior to unveiling, Lexus finally unveiled the LF-Ch hybrid hatchback concept at the Frankfurt Auto Show on September 15th.

The folks over at our flagship blog TheCarConnection.com (TCC) had generally positive things to say about the LF-Ch after seeing it in the metal. TCC’s Nelson Ireson commented that the vehicle “…shows off some pleasant lines…” from the frontal view. He pointed out the prominent nostril-like air scoops on each side of the front bumper. The fascia at the rear of the concept keeps consistent with this design theme, including marked indentions on either side of the bumper.

Ireson wrote of an issue covered earlier here at Lexus Reports concerning the LF-Ch’s given role as a European market entry. He noted that the door is still open for Lexus to bring a production version of the hybrid hatch to the U.S. Aspirations for U.S. sales, however, hinge squarely on Lexus’ ability to bring the model to market at just the right price point. As discussed previously here at Lexus Reports, a production LF-Ch would need to undercut the price of the newly introduced HS 250h dedicated hybrid luxury sedan.

Stay tuned as we continue to monitor post-show rumblings from the rumor mill regarding production and sales possibilities for this compelling Lexus concept.

2010 Lexus LS New Car Detailes

By admin, September 17, 2009

One of the many luxurious rides on display at the upcoming Frankfurt auto show will be the Lexus LS, a big and cushy sedan that is slated to receive a host of updates.

Details are murky, but all LS models will be slightly restyled inside and out for the 2010 model year. We’ve also been promised a new seating setup, more standard equipment, and “enhanced driving dynamics.” The hybrid LS600hL again will be pushed as Lexus’s high-performance flagship. An updated hybrid drive system and visual updates are thus in the cards for the 2010 model year.

As much as we may criticize its ocean-liner-like disconnect between driver and road, the LS did make our list of fabulous flagships, and offers “peerless refinement,” as we wrote in a 2007 test. Lexus promises more information on the 2010 LS later this month, so check this space often.

Lexus LF-Ch Concept Sneak Peek

By admin, September 17, 2009

The baby Lexus has landed! This is the first official shot of the premium Japanese brand’s first compact hatch, designed to take on the upmarket BMW 1-Series head-on.

Lexus LF-Ch Concept

Called the Lexus LF-Ch (the ‘LF’ denoting it’s a concept, the ‘C’ confirming it’s a C-segment car and the ‘h’ meaning its a hybrid), it features a practical five-door layout and a remarkably production-ready desoign. In fact if rumours are to be believed, it could enter production, with very few changes to the concept shown here, as early as next year.

Lexus LF-Ch Concept

Lexus is the only manufacturer to offer a range of hybrids, and judging by the LF-Ch concept that range is about to expand. The show car is fitted with a full-hybrid powertrain, with an electric-only driving function allowing, in theory, short-range zero emissions driving in urban areas.

Full details and an extensive picture gallery will be released on 10 September 2009, days before the LF-Ch makes its debut in Frankfurt.

Also on the Lexus stand in Germany will be a revised version of the LS luxury saloon, with updates inside and out, as well as a mildly facelifted GS. The IS will be shown with the new F-Sport styling package and there’s new that that IS F can now be ordered with a limited slip differential. For more details click here.
